Happy

So this is what they were talking about. This is how it feels like. No, wait. I'm not just happy! I'm overflowing with good vibes and I feel really blessed.

Not that I'm complaining or anything but if this is how it feels like, I can get used to it.

Blog Interview: Sasha Lim Uy of Scott Stuart

sashalimuy

1) What made you start a blog?

I've always loved writing. It started way back in gradeschool. I write down everything--from science notes and movie quotes to my innermost thoughts. I have a journal actually but then I realized, why bother keeping all these stories to myself. I could entertain people with my takes on the daily grind. Er.. so there.

Scottstuart wasn't my first attempt to start a blog. I wrote a few entries in my deleted Friendster account, I did the same in my deleted Multiply account, as well. I have a livejournal which is strictly private--it contains all my ka-drama-han hahaha. I have a blogspot which I opened for class--it's all news so I barely even look at it now. Wordpress was the one I stuck with but I had another one before which pretty much sucked. I wrote about it actually: http://scottstuart.wordpress.com/2011/03/10/as-clear-as-the-nose-on-her-face/ --that's my entire blog history. Hahaha.

2) When you first started blogging, what kind of readers were you expecting? Do you think that everyone should consider this?

Actually I didn't. It was more of... I just really wanted to get my stories out there. My blog was meant to be niche-less, if you know what I mean. It's really just--stories, no fashion, not so much of my face or my clothes unless it's a huge part of the story. I think if you want to open a niche blog, you have to think of your audience and similar blogs. For instance, Riza and I opened a food blog for tumblr and of course, it was to attract foodies. My blog is pretty much for anyone who loves a good story, is interested in life, etc. Hahaha Cheesy things like that.

3) What is your style when it comes to writing?

It really depends on the purpose and the audience. I used to write news and of course that has a more formal, serious tone. When I write for work, it has to be fun, witty and insightful without bordering on subjectivity or editorializing. For my blog, it's all just me. Hahaha It's how I talk, it's how I think. Sometimes the entries I write there are straight from my head without so much as editing or revision or even rereading. The style is the same--it's very positive, I think and very bare bones but the tone varies.

4) Was it easy telling people how you feel through your page?

I don't exactly pour out my soul in my blog. I'm careful not to let slip anything that's too personal, precisely why my LJ is EXTREMELY private. If your thoughts are private, then don't bother blogging about them because the internet is public space. It's like you're saying "I have a secret" pero wala ka naman balak sabihin yun (you don't really intend on saying it). What's the point?

Anyway, I'm a very open person, I don't write things that I'll regret in the future.

5) Any advice you would like to give the people who are thinking of starting a blog?

Just have fun. That's my go-to advice. Hahaha It's just me though but I don't really think about my audience when I make an entry. Niche blogs usually do that--they think about how readers would like this or react to this. But me, I opened my blog for "selfish" reasons hahahahahaha. I opened it for me--for me to have an outlet and share my stories.

6) Where can you see yourself in 10 years?

Funny I was just asked this question last week! Definitely editor of an online publication. Online is the new frontier and I intend to be part of it.

7) One word that best describes your blog?

Toodle--go figure hahaha. It's very random.

Rapture Day

It was late in the afternoon that I realized that I needed to go out. Aimee SMS-ed me to tell me that her plans for the day got canceled so I decided to go with my other cousin to pick her up at the airport since she just came home from Manila. To prepare ourselves for the "end of the world," we went to get some yummy refreshments at Bubble Town Teahouse. Stayed there for a while then decided to go home, eat out, go home again to rest and go out to get some coffee.

P5210753

An obligatory shot just 'cause my cousins said it was unfair that they had solo shots. Well, I must stick with my closed-lips-smile until my braces are taken out -- which is going to be real soon! Hihi, really excited!

P5210754

The rings I wore!!! I have a new one -- the red clover from Bring Rings! Thank you for sending me some. If you want to get the same ring or some other awesome rings, a giveaway is around the corner or you can just purchase one from them! I swear, they have cool pieces!

On Being Alone. . .

I haven't been this emotional for quite some time and it feels weird. I don't know if it's me or it's just my hormones acting up. Actually, I'm not really alone given that I'm around my family all the time and I was just talking to the best friend earlier via Skype and it was fun. You know the feeling when you think you're alone though you're not? Plus my playlist has not been of any help...

Just the thought of being alone is scary. I have been afraid of it for the past 18 years. Come to think of it, who wants to be? I guess this is the reason why I write. I write 'cause though I feel I'm alone, there's something that tells me that I'm not. I'm still hoping that there's someone out there who really gets what I write. May that be the sensible posts or not -- well mostly not.

I'm totally clueless on what this post really mean. I just wanted to let go of this heavy feeling. And if I'm lucky enough, I find someone who feels the same thing or dealt with the same thing and got over it. To anyone reading this and have the same complication, you can always talk to me. *virtual hug*

Blog Interview: Raleene Cabrera of www.raleene.com

raleenecabrera

1) What made you start a blog?

I started one in blogspot since I felt that not a lot of people had access to my multiply blog before. I also wanted to launch it again with better photos and content for my relatives and friends to read. I couldn't talk and keep a lot of people updated with my life online when I moved out for college. I also wanted people to view my photographs outside of Flickr. I bought my own domain and thought it would be a lot easier to direct them to one main site with all my info, links, etc.

2) When you first started blogging, what kind of readers were you expecting?

I didn't think anyone else (apart from my family and close friends, online friends) would read it since I didn't plan to advertise it. I wasn't as active on twitter since not a lot of people from the Philippines had one back then (2008) so I couldn't really spread the word about it. I didn't anticipate for my readers to increase in number, but I guess my friends forwarded my link or something. I wrote about my life, whereabouts, family... just because I thought only my friends would be able to read it. As soon as I noticed that random people were viewing and commenting, I felt like I had to write about things other people could relate to instead of writing things that were deemed too personal.

3) What is your strategy with your blog in general?

Post nice photos and write well. I never try to please anyone else but myself. I write for myself since I often look back on posts when I'm down, just to remind myself of how blessed I was to enjoy a lot of things. It's more of a public diary now than a photography/design blog. I also make sure to only blog/advertise things that I believe in.

4) Was it easy telling people how you feel through your page?

I still write what I feel, but I never really share too much. I've never been too emotional so that's never a problem for me. People can go through my blog without having to read through my posts, really. That's why I make sure that the photos can speak for themselves as well. I feel like the text is just something I add minutes before I publish something. I don't want my blog to be too overwhelming.

5) Any advice you would like to give the people who are thinking of starting a blog?

Do it for yourself and don't try to please people too much. It will feel like work once you establish your blog and gain more readership, so you should be prepared for that. Blogging's not as easy as it looks! Anyone can just start a blog, but it takes a lot to maintain one.

6) Name some of the bloggers you look up to and why?

Luxirare- her blog is so unique and her posts are always amazing! Very consistent and artistic in terms of photos and text without trying too hard.

Danielle Gonzalez (http://trustme-itsparadise.blogspot.com/)- Free-spirited without going overboard. I wish I could live a life like hers- 50% in the island, 50% in the city. And she's stylish, too!

Hannah Bacalla (http://blog.hannahbacalla.com/)- I've always been a fan of her photographs. (ever since I was in high school, I think) She can make anyone look like a model, even without the equipment.

Olivia (http://www.fashionsalade.com/lusttforlife/)- The first girl I've ever liked on lookbook... I don't follow a lot of fashion blogs, really. I just find her cute and again, I like her photos!

BJ (http://blog.bjpascual.com/)- he doesn't post much, but I like his photos and i like following the lives of some photographers. I got to know BJ just before he pursued photography so I guess I find it so cool and inspiring whenever I see that he's doing bigger projects every time he posts updates.

Vito Selma- he's not much of a blogger but he keeps us updated on twitter & Facebook. I look up to Vito since I'm an aspiring designer, too. I want to be able to work and travel the world like him in the future! His photos are always awesome.

Cybele Haaven (http://cybelehaaven.blogspot.com/)- because I wanna go to Europe someday and be able to produce pretty photos like her

Maddie Goldbeck (http://www.sillyinnocentgirl.blogspot.com/)- Because I wish I was as daring (in terms of clothes + hair) as her when I was younger!

I blog-hop each month and my faves list can change a lot. I get hooked to blogs with great photos. They don't have to be super glamorous and focused on fashion... I also like sites that look raw and unpretentious. :)

7) One word that best describes your blog?

Rainbow!!!

8) A message to The Purple Centipede?

Speak your mind!

Review: The Face Shop's Nail Polish in BK901

I just had my nails done after more than a month! Yes, my nails looked gross but I have a good excuse -- I was too busy. Anyway, tried out The Face Shop's nail polish in BK901. It's basically black and I don't know what it's called but it has this cool purple and aquamarine vibe in it. The first time I saw it, I was too excited to try it on and I'm really happy with the result. You should try it out too if you're curious of the color.

My World Tour: Justin Bieber live in Manila performing Baby

A low quality video which I took at the concert using my point and shoot cam. It was his last song so people should be going wild but they weren't and I still don't get it :| Maybe the concert goers were not really Beliebers! Justin Bieber stopped singing and said, "It's either you all go wild or I'll go?"

Well overall, the concert was awesome and I still can't get over it even if it's been almost a week! I'll give it a 10/10 haha!

On our way out, we saw the crew's bus -- they were waving at us. The sick Justin Bieber was there I guess :(

It was an unforgettable experience. Well, I may have not seen him closely but still... I SAW HIM and I still can't believe it! I can't really say that I'm his number one fan 'cause I believe there's someone else out there who is a bigger fan than I am. Nonetheless, he's still my number one! I will meet him someday, Never Say Never.

Taylor Swift Mean Official MV

Finally, the video is out! One of my favorite songs in her album. I think everyone can relate to the song.

"Someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean"

As Expected

You know the feeling of being close with someone but at the same time you feel that you're not? Well, this blog doesn't cater thoughts like these but what gives. I'm not really that kind to write publicly of what I feel, usually I go to a friend and endlessly rant about what's bothering me then I'm good to go. But right now, I feel different maybe because I've been reading a lot of stories on LGMH. I realized that there's nothing wrong with sharing short thoughts as long as they're heartfelt and real.

You see, I've known this person for years now but it seems like we haven't really connected these past few weeks. You know the feeling when you need that certain someone 'cause you think he's the only one who'll understand? I thought I have him but turns out I don't.

Blog Interview: Allie Principe of The Four-Eyed Wonder

allieprincipe

1) What made you start a blog?

When I started my blog back in April 2010 on Wordpress, it was more out of boredom than anything else. But I've been writing in journals and creating various blog sites in high school, and I thought it was a good time to revive the idea! I like how you can attach photos, videos and music to blog entries, something you can barely do in a handwritten journal.

2) When you first started blogging, what kind of readers were you expecting? Do you think that everyone should consider this?

I wasn't really expecting any particular type of readers, because I was just trying to recapitulate my everyday events and musings in a blog. But after a while, I decided to gear more towards blogging about fashion, art, design and photography, so I guess I'm hoping to cater to readers who are interested in that.

3) What is your style when it comes to writing?

Honestly, I don't know if I have one! But I guess my writing style can be described as "sometimes light / sometimes serious / most of the time self-depreciating". Hahaha!

4) Was it easy telling people how you feel through your page?

It wasn't that difficult really. I've never been one to keep my feelings tucked away, and one of the main reasons that I started this blog was to be an outlet, of ideas and of feelings. But I tend to keep the very serious (especially negative) feelings away from my blog, and reserve that for my journal.

5) Any advice you would like to give the people who are thinking of starting a blog?

Go for it! It's a great way to share your thoughts and ideas with the rest of the Web world. But blog for the right reasons. Never do it just to gain fame or attention.

6) Where can you see yourself in 10 years?

Having just graduated, this is a pretty tough question. But most definitely, I see myself working for the arts. I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. And hopefully, I'm still blogging! :)

7) One word that best describes your blog?

Quirky
